Dr.S.Madhavi - Principal & Professor

Prof. Mrs. DR.S.Madhavi sewed as Principal at KMCH Nursing College Office on April 2004. Her journey in nursing has begun in the year 1990; she is specialized in Medical Surgical Nursing and holds PhD in Cardiac Nursing. She started her career as a nurse and served in cardiothoracic ICU of Southern Railway Headquarters Hospital, Chennai. After Post graduation, she joined Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, Chennai and committed herself for teaching nursing students. She has immense passion for teaching young people.

Under her leadership many new courses are introduced in KMCH College of Nursing such as M.Sc. Psychiatric Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc (N), Post Diploma in Emergency and Disaster Nursing, Post Diploma in Critical Care Nursing, PhD in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care. She has extensive experience in curriculum planning, policy development, organizing international, national and state level workshops and conferences. She has published several research articles in national journals, presented scientific papers and also being a resource person for various conferences. She served as an Executive editor of the TN Nursing Council Journal of Medical Surgical Nursing for 3 years.

She is instrumental in incorporating newer teaching and learning methods in the curriculum, conducting research activities, introducing yoga course, arranging guest lecturers on latest updates, helping the students and faculty to find their own potentials by giving opportunity in dynamic areas, deputing faculty for training programs and also giving special attention to students extracurricular activities.

During her tenure at Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute she has been visiting faculty to Wisconsin University, Oshkosh, USA. She holds various professional positions such as Member Board of Studies and Senate member of Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Co-opted member of Indian Nursing and State Nursing Council and recognized Guide for PhD by Dr. MGR Medical University and also a PhD examiner.

Her Passion to Nursing and Nurses made her a recipient of Awards like " Best Nurse Educator-2011" at Tamilnadu level, "Best Teacher Award – 2012" by TN Dr. MGR University and Best Service Award-2012.
